octet coding agent

octet is a high-performance coding agent, extensible in any language, free
and open source. Built in Rust, it works with cloud models and local
OpenAI-compatible endpoints and keeps inspectable sessions on disk.

Release identity
octet was formerly codenamed Ygg. octet v0.7.0 uses the octet and octet-host
commands. Install afresh; existing Ygg installations and data remain separate.

does not independently establish release or package-channel availability.

Identity
The mark has eight adjoining columns encoding 01101111, lowercase ASCII o
in an eight-bit byte (0x6f). Positions 1 and 4 are half-height; the other six
are full-height. Every column shares a baseline. The wordmark is the
original outlined artwork and does not require an installed font.

Use the blue–cyan–green mark for public material. Preserve the bit order,
adjoining columns, proportions and baseline. Use the supplied light/dark
badges for square icons and transparent lockups in editorial layouts.
Allow at least one bit-column of clear space around free-standing lockups.
Provider-color variants represent the active model on product surfaces;
they are not alternative public identities or third-party endorsements.

Contents and provenance
The SVG, PNG and ICO files are unmodified native assets from the accepted
2026-09-04 encoded-byte identity handoff, octet-identity-20260904-02.
The source package was named octet-byte-brand-draft; its selection-pending
metadata predates acceptance recorded in REBRAND_PLAN.md. manifest.json
pins each imported file's SHA-256 checksum and dimensions. palettes.json
records the source of the provider-color samples; these are static samples,
not a replacement for live provider gradients or custom themes.

No product screenshots are included. Earlier terminal glyph proofs and
placement previews are design proofs, not screenshots of shipped octet.
Peer logos, ranking mockups, concept social cards and preview code are
excluded. The homepage TUI loops through authored coding workflows, using
source-informed model colours and rendering. It is not live or recorded
provider output, and its pacing is not measured model performance. This kit
makes no benchmark or ranking claim.

Design influences include Pi and the Terminus 2 agent.
